Client Information:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Division of
HIV Prevention (DHP) focus on high impact prevention of HIV-by
preventing new HIV infections, improving health outcomes for
persons with HIV, and reducing HIV related disparities and health
inequities.
DHP develops and maintains a variety of data and information
systems to support its mission, including systems to collect,
transmit, store, and analyze data for HIV/AIDS surveillance,
epidemiology, and program monitoring and evaluation. We are looking
for IT and public health partners including statisticians,
researchers, behavioral scientists, computer scientists, public
health advisors/analysts, budget analysts, and other program
staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable IT systems
for the CDC's DHAP, ensuring alignment with public health goals and
IT strategies.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies, frameworks, and
infrastructure solutions to enhance system functionality and
performance.
- Develop architectural blueprints and detailed documentation for
IT systems that include both hardware and software
components.
- Work collaboratively with IT teams, including developers,
network engineers, and cybersecurity experts, to ensure cohesive
and secure system integration.
- Conduct system performance reviews and iterate on design
enhancements to support evolving public health needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT system architecture with
a proven track record of designing complex systems in large
organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of modern architecture patterns (e.g.,
microservices, event-driven), platforms (e.g., .NET, Java EE), and
cloud architectures (AWS, Azure).
- Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data
solutions, including relational and NoSQL databases.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare or public health sector IT systems,
particularly with familiarity in compliance and regulatory
requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
- Prior experience with systems that process and analyze large
volumes of sensitive data.
- Certified Information Systems Architect (CISA) or
similar.
- Relevant cloud architecture certifications, such as AWS
Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure
Solutions Architect Expert.
